### Slide 5:

![Slide 5](slide_5.png)

::: Notes

Before the course begins, students need specific access information and materials. This slide covers the setup mechanics for lab access and guide distribution — notice that the process has multiple paths depending on whether the student uses the unique registration URL, and each path has different implications for license management.

#### Instructor notes

**Student's welcome email** :

The *welcome email* should come from the instructor before the class begins. It should include the unique student registration URL for the class you created in AWS Builder Labs in preparation for this class.

**Student access to labs and workbooks** :

It is preferred that students create their AWS Builder Labs account using their Amazon Retail or Partner Central login at the start of the class. It is highly encouraged for students to access their guides in this way so that the license code is auto-applied on behalf of the student. There is no need to purchase license codes from Gilmore if a student accesses their bookshelf account through the AWS Builder Labs dashboard using the unique student registration link provided at the beginning of class.

After students are logged in, they will be able to view their AWS Builder Labs dashboard with lab titles. They also will be able to access their student and lab guides through a link on the dashboard.

Refer to the next slide for a student view of the dashboard.

**Questions?** :

For more information about commonly asked student questions, issues, and simultaneous lab limits, refer to the FAQ & Resources section in the Instructor Enablement: AWS Builder Labs guide on AWS Skill Builder at https://explore.skillbuilder.aws/learn/course/internal/view/elearning/12814/instructor-enablement-aws-builder-labs.

#### Student notes

Check your inbox for a welcome email from your instructor. In this
email, you will find your unique student registration URL for the class.
Use this URL link to create an account or to log in to your existing AWS
Builder Labs account. In AWS Builder Labs, you can access your lab
environments, Lab Guide, and Student Guide.

### Slide 6:

![Slide 6](slide_6.png)

::: Notes

This slide shows the student's view of the AWS Builder Labs dashboard and how guides are accessed through eVantage Bookshelf. The access flow depends on whether students enter through the registration URL or directly — understanding these two paths prevents common support issues at the start of class.

#### Instructor notes

You can log in to your instructor management view of the class details page in AWS Builder Labs and then switch to Student View. In Student View, you can demo for the students where to access their Lab Guide and Student Guide in the *eVantage Bookshelf (VitalSource)* using the links shown on this slide. Labs will show as unavailable until you have preloaded the labs for the students, at which point they will be able to start the labs.

When the students select the link to access their Lab and Student Guides, they will be prompted to do one of the following:

* **Log in to your existing eVantage Bookshelf (VitalSource) account**
* **Choose Create an account**

#### Student notes

At this time, you should be logged in to AWS Builder Labs. From here, you can access your Lab Guide and Student Guide, which you can locate in eVantage Bookshelf (VitalSource). Buttons to the Lab Guide and Student Guide are located at the top-right corner of your AWS Builder Labs dashboard. The labs and buttons will be greyed out until the start of the class. When the class starts, select either button to access your guides. You will be prompted to log in with your existing eVantage Bookshelf (VitalSource) account or to create a new account. After you log in to eVantage Bookshelf (VitalSource), you will have access to the Student and Lab Guides for the class. You can access your guides online or download them. Use these guides to follow along with the course and as a reference after the training.

### Slide 7:

![Slide 7](slide_7.png)

::: Notes

This slide applies only to classes without labs, or when students did not use the unique registration URL to access their materials. The distinction matters because the license code process differs depending on the enrollment path — using the wrong approach requires instructors to manually purchase and distribute codes.

#### Instructor notes

**Important note** : This slide is only valid for classes without labs, or when a student logs into their preexisting eVantage Bookshelf (VitalSource) account without using the unique student URL through the AWS Builder Labs portal first. In courses with labs, encourage student to access the lab environments and books through the registration URL provided in their welcome email.

**Share the code** : With students and make sure they have access to the Student and Lab Guides. For additional information and to create an account or log in to your existing eVantage Bookshelf (VitalSource) account, review https://evantage.gilmoreglobal.com. You, the trainer, will need to purchase license codes through Gilmore and send students a code to download their Student and Lab Guides for the course. Students will use these guides to follow along with the course and for reference after their training.

#### Student notes

**To access the course guide, do the following** : Navigate to eVantage Bookshelf (VitalSource) at https://evantage.gilmoreglobal.com. Either create an account or log in to your existing account. When prompted, use the code provided by the instructor to access the guides for the class. Classes without labs only have a Student Guide. Classes with labs have a Student Guide and a Lab Guide. You can access your guides online or download them. Use these guides to follow along with the course and as a reference after the training.
